FUNCTIONS OF BORON IN PLANTS

Boron takes part in the synthesis and transportation of carbohydrates, in oxidation-reduction reactions, protein and nucleic turnover and synthesis of phytohormones. The element improves the flower formation, germination of pollen tubes and pollination. Boron has a positive effect on the growth of the root system, the structure of cell walls and the development of apical points of plants.

The most sensitive to deficiency of this element are rape, sunflower, sugar beet, potatoes, vegetables, fruit and berry crops.

Boron deficiency in rape decreases the number of pods and seeds in them, reduces the oil content in seeds. Small leaves are formed that do not develop. In the early stages of rape growth, the deficiency of the element can be identified by anthocyanin colour of young leaves. Young beet leaves become chlorotic colour, dry-rot of root crop is developed.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE:

• Sugar beet, 0.5-2.0 l/ha at the phase of closing of crop and before closing
• Sunflower 0.5-2.0 l/ha at 4 – 6 leaf stage and at the blooming period
• Rape, 0.5-2.0 l/ha at the budding stage, at a low level of element in the soil it is possible an autumn application at 6 – 8 leaf stage to improve the winter hardiness
• Potatoes, 0.5-2.0 l/ha at the budding stage
• Crop, 0.5-2.0 l /ha at 6 – 8 leaf stage
• Legumes, 0.5-2.0 l/ha at the budding stage
• Fruit, 0.5 - 2.0 l/ha during the pink bud phase and throughout the growing season.
